Our School Council

The School Council is made up of pupil representatives from Year 2 to Year 6. They meet regularly to discuss ways of supporting and improving our school. They often meet with the Headteacher and their ideas and actions are reported to the Governors each term. They are a very important part of our school improvement process and carry out their responsibilities very professionally.

Penygawsi Councillors 2017

Meet The Councillors

The children have been busy over the past few weeks preparing their presentations and campaigns for this year's school council.  Each class from Year 2 through to Year 6 have voted in their classes and the pupils have spoken - they have decided who they want to represent their class in this year's School Council.

I met with my new councillors last week and I am very excited to be working with such a super group of children this year.  We have already split into our sub committees and have begun working on our committee projects.  There is lot of exciting things ahead...Watch this space!

I am proud to announce this year's School Council are:

Blwyddyn 2 - Mrs Black

Blwyddyn 3 - Mrs Farrell/Mrs Taylor

Blwyddyn 3/4 - Miss Parfitt

Blwyddyn 4/5 - Mr Ball

Blwyddyn 5/6 - Mrs Udy

Blwyddyn 6 - Mrs Rees

Now you have met the councillors, it is time for you to see what committee they will be working in for the rest of the year.

Curriculum Committee

Eco Committee

School Improvement Committee

Community Committee

Being on School Council is an important job and the councillors above have proven they have what it takes to become the voice of their classes. They have all shown they have special skills which are needed to be excellent student councillors.  To learn these skills all you need to remember is my special word COUNCIL.

Communicate clearly.
Organisation skills.
Understand the needs and feelings of others.
Negotiate effectively.
Confidence is key!
Interested in your school and making it an even better place!
Listen to what others have to say!

We will be using this blog page to keep you updated on our projects.  We will also inform you of special events that we will be organising such as charity fundraisers.  There are many fun events in the pipeline for this term already.

The children are very excited to start their jobs and to make a difference.  It is a privilege to have the opportunity to support them and guide them in their roles.

Many Thanks
Mrs Rees :O)
